In his sole speaking engagement during his first visit to Tonga, Poland's ambassador to New Zealand and the Pacific islands recounted how his nation bounced back from a troubled history to become the 23rd largest producer among nations of the world. In a review of key players in the Polish economy, HE Zbigniew Gniatkowski described cutting-edge corporations in transportation, medicine, and technology. The event occurred at 'Atenisi's Lolo Masi Hall Tue. evening, 3 November.

The talk was attended by, among others, Hasiloni Fungavai, chief financial officer of the Tonga Development Bank.

Earlier in the day, the ambassador met with Hon Prime Minister 'Akilisi Pohiva to discuss future cooperation between Poland and Tonga. On Monday afternoon, 'Atenisi dean Dr Michael Horowitz accompanied the ambassador on a tour of Ha'amonga, Paepae 'o Tele'a, and the Mapu'a 'a Vaca. During the excursion, the envoy outlined postgraduate opportunities in Poland for 'Atenisi graduates.
